Piece No. 005

Good Service

When did proper service become something we had to ask for?

There was a time when going out to eat meant more than receiving a plate of food. You expected someone to know the menu, answer your questions, check on your table, and at the very least, make you feel like your business was appreciated.

Now, asking for a little more information can be met with a blank ass stare. Asking questions about can somehow feel like an inconvenience. And yet, we're still expected to leave a generous tip while watching our server give better attention to every table except ours.

But this isn't just about restaurants.

It's about the continuous expectation that we should be spending our hard earned money, while accepting less in return.

Good service shouldn't feel like a luxury. And appreciation shouldn't be something we have to pay extra to receive.

Piece No. 005, “Good Service,” is a little reminder that our money is still ours to spend—and we don't have to support what doesn't deserve it.
